How Can We Help?
Cloudflare has quite an array of tools available.
Firstly in the free setup, it uses a Proxy which masks the IP of the hosting server. So when nasty bots try to go through your site via the IP, Cloudflare protects it. But it can’t protect it all.
If your site is being ‘hammered’ with dodgy traffic, then are other layers of protection that do come at a cost. Such as Security rules, for rate limiting. Think of it like asking someone you work with out to do something. Then again, and again and again… eventually you’ll get them moaning at you to “go away”.
This is basically Rate Limiting. It stops too much traffic at one time, which is seen as dodgy.
Plus other tools that stop IPs not seen as “good” by Cloudflare, and thus not passing through it’s network. It’s very clever.
